Adult Volunteers &

Frequently Asked Questions

How long are volunteers expected to commit to a schedule?

We ask that most volunteers are able to commit to a regular shift once a week for at least 3 months.

What if I cannot make a shift, or I cannot attend each week?

No problem! We ask that if you cannot attend a shift you are normally scheduled for, to let our Volunteer Coordinators know with reasonable notice. If you cannot attend once a week, we are happy to have your support on a schedule that works for you with coordination from our Volunteer Coordinators.

Do I need to pay for the background check or anything to volunteer?

You do not need to pay for anything to help support Ceres. Any training or onboarding that requires any fee will be paid for by Ceres.

Can I volunteer more than once a week, or for multiple jobs?

Of course, we would love the support! We ask that volunteers try a single shift to start out and see how they like it and if you feel that you would like to participate more often, let your volunteer coordinator know and they will assist however you need.

I'm a returning volunteer. What do I do to start volunteering again?

If you’re a returning adult volunteer, all you need to do is email volunteer@ceresproject.org or call us at 707·829·5833.

What are your safety protocols?

We have developed extensive COVID protocols that are designed to provide a safe volunteer experience. These include small shift sizes and rigorous attention to health and safety measures developed according to CDC and local health department standards. All new volunteers receive training prior to their first shift.

Are there other roles I can do?

Yes! We also have other roles available on site or remotely. These roles include being a…

  • Receptionist,

  • Handy person,

  • Education program assistant,

  • Data entry assistant,

  • Events assistant,

  • Donor Recognition Volunteer,

  • Caring Calls Volunteer,

  • Or making Caring Cards for our clients.
