Volunteering

Volunteers are the heart of
The Ceres Community Project and
play essential roles in every area
of our work.

Harvesting produce and picking up donations, preparing meals and delivering them to our clients, tabling at the farmer’s market, helping with office work, and meeting with and supporting clients – all of it happens through the energy of the many teens and adults who devote their time, spirit and caring to making The Ceres Community Project’s mission a reality.

Whether you like being on the front lines
or working behind the scenes,
there is a place for you at Ceres.

Once you contact us, we will work with you to find the best placement for your skills and interest. We are committed to finding a place for everyone at Ceres, especially having as many teens as possible work with us in the kitchen.

Currently The Ceres Community Project
does not have a permanent home.

We are leasing kitchen space from one of our volunteer chefs. The kitchen is a very busy place, and drop-in visitors may feel unsatisfied because the chefs are too busy to attend to their questions. The best way to get to know what we are about is to contact our Volunteer Coordinator at the email address or phone number listed here, and to attend a Volunteer Orientation Evening (see dates listed on this page).

At its heart, The Ceres Community Project is
about building and strengthening community.

Feeling connected to others and engaging in meaningful ways in our world supports health and wholeness for each of us, whether we are a volunteer, staff, board member or client. We gather as a community at least twice each year to celebrate and reflect on our work.

Volunteer Orientation

New volunteers are invited and encouraged to attend a Monthly Volunteer Orientation Evening. You will gain an understanding of the big picture of The Ceres Community Project, learn more about the food we prepare and who we serve, meet adult and teen staff, learn about the volunteer opportunities for teens and adults, ask questions and have a taste of a delicacy that our chefs prepare! All teen and adult volunteers are invited and encouraged to attend.
