Cathryn Couch, Ceres Executive Director, was awarded a Silver Medal for her community service Tuesday night (Jan 15) at the Annual Jefferson Bay Area Awards Ceremony.

She began her one minute acceptance speech, acknowledging the "phenomenal board and staff" and thanking the other members of our Ceres community  – the teens, adult volunteers, local organic farmers and food producers. YOUR dedication, commitment, expertise, energy, and your passion for what we do enables Ceres to be recognized for the impact we are having locally and nationally!

Cathryn is one of five people identified as "standouts in local community service" out of 50 regional Jefferson Award Winners who will now have the chance to be invited to Washington, D.C. to attend an event with regional winners from around the country. Past national winners are a “Who’s Who” of American history makers - 5 Supreme Court Justices - Sandra Day O’Connor and Thurgood Marshall; seven Secretaries of State - Colin Powell and Cyrus Vance; three First Ladies - Barbara Bush, Rosalynn Carter and Betty Ford; as well as Oprah Winfrey, Cesar Chavez, Jimmy Carter, Walter Cronkite,  and Paul Newman. …she is in good company!

Warm Regards,
