Enter the world of honey bees with Michael Thiele for an afternoon at The Melissa Garden Honey Bee Sanctuary. Learn about the fascinating life inside the bee colony, taste wild honey, experience a unique display of traditional hives, be touched by the humble life of the bees, and enjoy the radiant pollinator flower garden. Bees are essential for our own survival on earth and the vision of "The Melissa Garden" is to protect and nourish honey bees, and to inspire others to do the same. Includes a private garden tour with Barbara Schlumberger and a catered lunch featuring delicious organic sourdough pizza prepared by Kendra & Nathan Stuffelbeam of The Pie Place.
Michael grew up on a farm in a tiny village in central Germany and has been deeply influenced by the German biodynamic beekeeping movement. He teaches classes on natural and holistic apiculture in the United States and was featured in the movie Queen of the Sun. Michael is one of the co-founders of the The Melissa Garden (www.themelissagarden.com) and founded GaiaBees (www.gaiabees.com) as a platform and resource for a new approach to living with bees.
