We have been making sauerkraut

for Ceres Community Project clients for several years because of its supportive benefits for the digestive system. Now, two of our most popular flavors – Arame & Ginger and Dill & Garlic – are available in local grocery stores.

Our sauerkraut salads

are made with organic ingredients and traditionally fermented using organic sea salt. The health benefits of sauerkraut include:

• Traditional fermentation creates food that is easier to digest, higher in vitamins, and rich with beneficial enzymes.

• Lactic-acid, the main by-product of fermentation, promotes and protects healthy flora in the stomach – a critical factor in our ability to digest our food and in the health of our immune and nervous systems.

• Cabbage is in the brassica family of vegetables. Numerous studies have shown cabbage and other brassicas to be strongly preventive of cancer as well as beneficial in many other ways.

• Our Sauerkraut Salads are low in calories (5 per serving) and fat free.

If you aren't a sauerkraut fan, we encourage you to try our sauerkraut salads. The cabbage is chopped rather than shredded and the texture is crisp and refreshing – more like coleslaw than the sauerkraut you might remember from your childhood. Just a few tablespoons a day will help strengthen your digestive system.

Try sauerkraut salad as a topping on green salad or rice, or add it to a sandwich such as hummus, grilled cheese or turkey. It's a great side dish for sausage, roast chicken or barbecued meats. But be careful, it's easy to get hooked and then you're likely to find yourself eating it right out of the container or by the bowlful!

Dill & Garlic
Sauerkraut Salad

Tangy dill and the richness of garlic make this combination a perfect match for a variety of food favorites. The refreshingly bright flavor is a natural to accompany seafood, but the herbaceous flavor notes of the dill also create a tasty contrast for chicken. Dill & Garlic Sauerkraut Salad is also delicious with potato salad, on grilled cheese or Reuben sandwiches, or as a topping on salad. Both dill and garlic are also strongly antioxidant, adding to the health benefits of this product.

Arame & Ginger
Sauerkraut Salad

Blending organic cabbage with arame sea vegetable and organic ginger creates a subtly spicy and complex flavor reminiscent of the best of Asian foods. Arame is a mild flavored seaweed that is a superb source of a many important minerals. It is also a good source of Lignans (phytoestorgens) which help fight cancer. The flavor created can be paired well with chicken, lean pork, or fish such as salmon, tuna or ahi. Arame & Ginger Sauerkaut Salad is also delicious with Asian stir fry’s or noodle dishes, and as a topping for rice or other grains.
